November newsletter

Dear Parents and Carers,

Next week is very busy with lots of special days and dressing up!

Children in Need

As usual, the school will be supporting ‘Children in Need’ which takes place on Friday 19th November. By taking part, the children in school can make a huge difference to local charities and projects. Children are welcome to come to school on Friday 15th in non-uniform and bring a donation for this charity.

Anti-Bullying Week 15-19th November

This year the school will be taking part in anti-bullying week with activities taking place in each class over the week. The week will start with odd socks day on Monday 15th November to mark the first day.

Nursery Rhyme week for Early Years children

This year both Nursery and Reception will be supporting ‘World Nursery Rhyme week’ in the week commencing 15th November. The children will be able to dress up as a nursery thyme character; on Thursday 18th November, no fancy costumes just your imagination and a cello tape!  We will be singing as many rhymes as we can in 10 minutes, as we are unable to invite parents in we will send a video link home. The Early Years Team have sent a letter with information about this event. The just giving link is:

Flu Immunisations

Flu immunisations will take place in school on Thursday 25th November for children from Reception to Year 2 who have returned consent forms.

PFA Christmas Cards

The PFA have asked the children to make Christmas cards this year to fundraise for the school. Samples of the children’s designs should be sent out next week.

Parent Governor

A vacancy has come up for a parent governor. If you are interested in being part of the governing team who support the school  please telephone to the office to find out more. If we have a number of parents interested in this role then we will hold a ballot.

Additional Bank Holiday

As you may be aware, there is to be an additional public holiday on Friday 3rd June 2022 to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. This date falls within the summer half term break and therefore all Waterton academies have been asked to allocate an alternative day off within term time instead. Crofton Infants will be taking Friday July 22nd. This is the last day of term and therefore children will break up for the summer holidays on Thursday 21st July 2022.

We are sorry to say goodbye to Mrs Hirst who has worked at Crofton Infants for many years. Mrs Hirst has supported hundreds of children during her time with us and will be greatly missed by her colleagues, the children and I am sure by many of you. We wish her well as she takes up a new role.

Read, Write, Inc.

Attached to this email is information regarding phonics and reading in school. Please read to find out how the school teaches phonics and early reading and how you can support your child at home. Read, Write, Inc is the scheme we use for Reception and Year one, nursery children will start this later in the year. If you have any questions please speak to your child’s class teacher.

The school often posts information on twitter, why don’t you follow us @Croftoninfants.

Thank you for your continued support

Mrs C Holloway
