A proud member of

June 2021

As we work through the final half term of what has been both an uncertain and challenging year, we look forward to the summer and hopefully a more settled year.

Sports Day

Sports day will be taking place on Monday 28th June, unfortunately due to Covid restrictions we are unable to invite parents/carers to watch. All children should come to school in PE kit on Monday and wearing trainers.

Health week 28th -2nd July

During health weekChildren will be taking part in different activities to collect the Olympic rings during PE lessons. We are doing this activity as a fundraiser for Wakefield Hospice. If you would like to sponsor your child to collect as many rings as possible  a just giving page has been set up to donate.

Despite another month of restrictions in the country we have decided to continue with a transition day to the Junior school. Mr Birdsall and I have had a conversation to ensure the transition day will conform to current guidelines and be Covid safe. Year 2 children will spend either a morning or an afternoon at the Junior school on July 2nd. This will be an opportunity to meet their new teacher and see their new classroom.

Unfortunately we are unable to hold a parents meeting for our new to nursery and reception children, however we hope to invite parents and children in in smaller groups. Mrs Lindley our early years leader will be writing to later this week.

Miss Barratt

After 11 years Miss Barratt our office administrator leaves us on Friday. Miss Barratt is the voice you will hear on the telephone if your child is unable to attend school as she is our attendance officer. She will be missed by the whole school community and we would like to thank her for her dedication to the school. I’m sure you will join me in wishing her good luck as she takes up her new post. Mrs Young will be alone in the office until Miss Barratt’s replacement comes into post so please bear with us if it takes a little time to get back to you when the phone lines are busy.

Breakfast Club

Since the onset of Covid less children have been attending breakfast club and we can now only accept children from our school, therefore from September breakfast club will not open until 8am.
