Welcome back to a new term and hopefully spring is on the way.

World Book Day

World Book day is a celebration of books and reading and is celebrated by over 100 countries across the globe. At Crofton infants we will be celebrating too. On Thursday 3rd March we are inviting children to come to school dressed as a book character. On this day every child will receive a £1 book token which can be used to buy one of the special World Book Day books or to have £1 off the price of another book. Children will take part in activities that encourage reading for pleasure and have a chance to discuss their favourite books. We will also be having a big book swap where children can bring a book to school that they no longer want and swap for another book. The ‘Masked Reader’ will be taking place in school, watch out for this on the school twitter account.

Phonics Information meeting

School will be holding a phonics meeting for Reception and Year 1 parents. This will be an opportunity to find out how we teach phonics and what you can do as parents to support your child at home. The meeting will take place on Tuesday 29th March, more details to follow.

Parents consultations

Parent consultations will be taking place during the week beginning 14th March. A letter will be coming out this week for you to book an appointment with your child’s class teacher. We will be holding face to face meetings this time. If you are not able to make the dates given please speak to your childs class teacher who will arrange another time for you.

Rob Burrow Charity Week

Waterton Academy Trust Schools will be taking part in a charity week in support of the Rob Burrow MND charity. From 4th -8th April each class will take part in a sponsored event to raise money for this very worthwhile cause. Alongside a special event that Waterton Academy Trust is organising each class will decide what they would like to do to support. More information will come out to you when the children have decided on their events.
