Nursery – Caterpillars

Welcome to Caterpillar class!

I am Mrs Tucknott the teacher in Nursery. I am lucky to work with our Nursery Nurse Mrs Jackson and our Teaching assistant Miss Burdett and Mrs Gordon who both work in the Caterpillar class.

In Nursery we encourage children to be independent and uncover a real love of learning and school through play based learning and short adult-led sessions. We have high expectations for our youngest children and try our best every day to ensure they have the best start to their education.

We plan for Nursery following the children’s needs, we observe and assess where the children are in their development and plan our provision and lessons around their next steps. We use exciting themes and books of the week to inspire the children to be excited about and involved in their own learning.

Our daily routine starts with name writing practice on the carpet, followed by a short phonics and maths session. We then learn through our play in the provision until the end of the day when we focus on our topic before home time.

Morning nursery starts at 8:30am and finishes at 11:30am
Afternoon nursery starts at 12:15pm and finishes at 3:15pm.

Those of you whose child will be doing 30 hours with us will start at 8:30am and finish at 2:30pm (or 3:15 with extra charges).
The Nursery entrance is off Smithy Close and through the conservatory door. This is where you will bring your child into school and pick them up. However, if you pick your child up at 2:30, you will collect them from the ‘House’ door off the High Street, next door to Sainsbury’s.
